Twin Box Slitter
Challenge
Our customer ran high volumes of a small box and had continuously growing demands. Although small boxes are typically inexpensive, we thought we could improve pricing and deliver their packaging more efficiently.
Solution
Our team found a way to double the output on each run, thereby decreasing costs and more efficiently delivering the high volume packaging to meet their growing demands. We invested in multiple pieces of equipment designed specifically to double the speed we can run small boxes called twin box slitters. These allow flexo folder gluers to run two small boxes together before the twin box slitter splits them using a sharp blade.
Results
The new equipment investment doubles our flexo folder gluers output to 42,000 boxes per hour. This allows us to both decrease pricing and improve lead time on these orders since they are produced twice as fast.
